iPtX plants and RED III
moonriver.energy iPtX plants (integrated Power-to-X plants) fulfil the conditions of RED III (Renewable Energy Directive). According to RED III, RFNBOs... Read more »
moonriver.energy is a concept developed by movingpower GmbH. The modularised concept for generation of what we call customised green fuel (CGF) is a game changer in developing a worldwide decentralized power-to-gas infrastructure. Our concept is flexible: each of it’s four modules can be customised and have clear defined interfaces between each other. Our concept drives the energy transition: making CGF-production predictable – both in technical and economical terms.
The people behind moonriver.energy have unrivalled experience and execution track record in the energy transition sector. They are invested in power-to-gas technologies since 2011, and have the strong ambition to take the energy transition on the next level. They are experts in the fields of process, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering on one hand; and project investment, development and management on the other hand. A perfect blend of engineers, commercials and legals striving for excellence.
The four modules of the moonriver.energy concept are harvest, produce, capture and merge. We harvest the givings by nature – sun, wind, hydro and geothermal power and generate green electricity. With this green electricity, we produce green hydrogen by water electrolysis. From the flue gases of various industries, we capture carbon dioxide by amin gas treating. We merge the green hydrogen with the captured carbon dioxide to synthetic methan or any other customised green fuel.
Our concept is proven: the power-to-gas plant in Werlte, Germany produces green hydrogen since 2013, and synthetic methan since 2018. Currently, we are scaling-up with our moonriver:plovdiv project with 20 MW photovoltaics; 10 MW green hydrogen production, carbon dioxide capture and methanation. movingpower GmbH is also consulting various clients in green hydrogen production, carbon capture and methanation projects; and is part of the Austrian H2REAL (Hydrogen Region East Austria goes Live) research project.
We harvest the givings by nature: sun, wind, hydro and geothermal power and generate green electricity. However, the givings by nature are predominantly intermittent, and we have to deal with a fluctuating power production. Within the moonriver.energy concept, we develop methods how to manage this irregularity at the interface to green hydrogen production.
how do we harvest? We use the harvested green electricity to produce green hydrogen. We produce green hydrogen in the power-to-gas plant in Werlte, Germany since 2013. We follow closely the developments in electrolyseur technologies, and test cutting-edge technologies by ourselves in our plant. We have specific experience in storage and distribution of green hydrogen.
how do we produce? We capture the climate harmful CO2 from the flue gases of a wide range of sources. Since 2018, we operate an amine scrubber to capture CO2 from biogas in the power-to-gas plant in Werlte, Germany. We closely follow developments in CO2 capture and test cutting edge technologies by ourselves in our plant. We have particular experience in handling of the captured CO2.
how do we capture? We merge our green hydrogen with the captured CO2, and produce synthetic methane or any other customised green fuel (CGF). Since 2018, we operate a methanation reactor at the power-to-gas plant in Werlte, Germany. We closely follow developments in methanation, liquefied methane, methanol and ammonia production and test cutting edge technologies in the plant.
